The Ugly Duckling Makeover

I've seen some ugly furniture over the past few years, but this little dresser takes the cake. Fake blond wood, straight lines, and outdated silver hardware were not doing it any favors. Time to fix it.
Before and After. You can find more pics on my blog!
Before
Even though it's not very nice looking it is in great shape.
First, I sanded the factory finish paint off the top. Was so happy and surprised to find a nice cherry veneer underneath. I stained it dark with one coat of Java Gel from General Finishes and 3 coats of Varathane.
I used stripes to define the bottom drawers, stenciled a french poem on, and changed out the hardware.
I filled the holes in the top drawers and added new knobs.
After. So much better and perfect for the nursery it's going in!
