Vintage Surveyor's Tripod Floor Lamp- DIY Industrial Style

Medium
Tripod floor lamps are all the rage right now, and trendy home decor stores sell them for several hundred dollars! But if you're lucky enough to find an old tripod at a flea market or yard sale, snap it up- because this DIY is easier than you think.
So this is the tripod I found at a flea market- In perfect condition (and at the perfect price) for an upcycling project. And I was determined to create an industrial-style floor lamp for our living room.
The secret to turning this into a lamp is creating the right mechanism to hold your lamp kit. The "hole" at the top of the tripod is too large to secure the lamp socket.
So, we made a "plug" that fits securely in the tripod and houses the light kit perfectly and then tapped it into place.

All the how-to details can be found in my original post!
And then wire your lamp kit per box directions! And don't worry- it is surprisingly easy to do, even for first-time DIYers.
After cleverly hiding the hanging cord ( Check out my secret, simple trick here! ), it is ready to illuminate your home in style- and at a fraction of the cost of the new versions in trendy home decor stores.
