Place Mats and Pants Into PILLOWS!

It started with a newly renovated living room. I bought some curtain panels that were too long..what to do with that extra material? After buying a decorative pillow at the store for $15 and then returning it after coming to my senses..I knew what had to be done!
This chair is over 10 years old and was outside going to the curb..it was so soft and cushioney..wait, that's it! I ripped the thing open. There is a lot of stuffing in one of these things. I got 3 plastic totes and 3 different sized pieces of foam with batting on top. Nice..and free..and good use of old materials.
Using my extra material from my curtains and my chair stuffing, I made my first few pillows. But I knew I needed some material variation. While walking through a store, 2 place mats caught my eye. I knew they were a perfect size and color for what I wanted to do. Soo...home they went and sewing them together they became my next pillow.
While finishing this pillow my son gave me a pair of pants that no longer fit him..as luck would have it they were gray..and corduroy. Cutting off a leg and stuffing it, the next pillow was born.
yellow strip added for flair
Knowing that anything makes a great pillow now, I also cut up an old sweater. I have put together quite the variety of pillows for very cheap. I am most proud of the place mat idea..there are some really great place mats out there making decorative pillows so much cheaper!
I also love that making your own pillows allows you to make any size or shape you want. I have another chair to rip apart, so I see more pillows in my future!
