Tips and Tricks: Masking Walls for Stripes, Faux Finishes, or Accents

Tim's Man Blog
by Tim's Man Blog
Anyone can mask a straight vertical line using 3 simple tricks. These techniques can be used for any type of design where straight, sharp, vertical lines are required, such as stripes, accent blocks (such as I am doing in the video), or certain faux finishes.
Try it! The worst that can happen is you'll have to do it over again. It's only paint!

Looks easy! Haven't enough confidence. I make measurements to mark along the edge, and then use a level to connect the marks, and draw a pencil line!

@Marion Nesbitt It IS easy! Go ahead and give it a try. If you're afraid of wasting expensive tape, practice with a couple rolls of cheap dollar-store stuff. Following my method of using the tape roll as a plumb-bob, and taking your time, you can do it. Before sticking down the edge of the tape, just double check the line with a level....you'll be surprised! Thanks for the kind comment.....Good luck with your projects! P.S..... I spent 20 years on the job using the "measure, mark, double check, then tape" method. Then I started doing it this way, and I am now just as (if not more) accurate as before. Great time saver!
