My Grandmother's rocking chair is more than 60 years old.The wood is in solid condition. The only problem, it creaks

when I rock. How do I get rid of the creaking noise?

    @ - really good link. I have a "creaker" as well, but it is on carpet. This may solve my issues, too. Thank you!

    Thanks. Hope it helps you. You can't go wrong with Dremel bits and tools, so I figured you can't go wrong with Dremel's advice, either.

    If you have a loose dowel rod, mortise joint, or other connection, maybe some wood glue and a trim screw or nail will help remedy it. Try to isolate the location of the creak. At my house, it is the floor under the rocker... not the actual chair! :)

    I know it sounds crazy, but my mother-in-law would take her rocker outside every spring, spray it really good with a water hose and leave it in the sun until it dried. This tightened up all the joints. No more creaking.

    Loud creaks can be annoying, yet the soft creak of a gently rocking chair can be very soothing, and help to ease a baby into sleep.
