Small Space Mudroom Alternative

We have no mudroom though we wanted one. The small coat closet we have is not near our family's entrance. That's one problem, and another is the three-year-old can't hang her own coat.
My husband and I discussed some ideas to help the three children have space to hang coats and backpacks. Finally, we decided on using a tiny, tiny space to create a sort-of-mudroom.
We added it opposite of our powder room door. It's just a tiny hallway, as you can see.
