A Thrift Store Wooden Hamper Gets a Royal Make Over
I found it at the thrift store and in years past, had stenciled a rose design on it. After years of living with it, I decided it needed a new look. Especially since I was opting for a more elegant and upscale style of decorating rather than my past "country" decor.
On the hunt for something really awesome, I found resin relief ornaments on the internet and glued them to the front of the hamper.
A coat of primer covered the old design and prepped the new resin onlays for paint.
I taped off the center panel and then painted the panel with light gray translucent glaze. Using an old terry towel, I removed the paint from the tops of the design. This brings out that detailed beauty!
Raised designs (in my opinion) give your piece the look of hand carved wood.
Now, I have a clothes hamper that doesn't have to hide in the closet and actually becomes a "show off" piece!
