Table For Two ~ A Romantic Tablesetting

How do you define romance? With Valentine’s Day coming up, it’s something that most of us are thinking about. There are so many commercial cues that signal a “Hallmark holiday”, but when it really comes down to it, romance, for me, is simply about being with someone I love in the most welcoming of environments. So, I like to set a table for two…
My Valentine’s table setting, like all things I treasure, needs to please all of the senses. From tasty sweets to aromatic flowers, plush seating, to crackling candles and all the visual beauty I can possibly muster, my tablescape aims to delight on many levels.
I am a huge fan of fresh flowers and that is always a great place to start. These lovely roses are cradled in a soft linen blush pink napkin and tossed on the cream damask French chair.
My favorite go-to for an air of romance is a mix of vintage china. Here I paired some of my most treasured pink flowered pieces, all flecked in gold, to add a sense of refinement to the table.
These sweets were provided by a wonderful local merchant who makes fresh homemade Italian delights daily. The platter is a chintzware sample from my vintage collection.
The hyacinths alone looked so pretty in a pink mason jar. My Renaissance church candlestick seems to make it to every one of my table settings. I wish I had more of them!
