Newsprint Heart Faux Pallet Art

I love the look of pallet art, but I don't have a garage full of power tools to build my own.
But I do have a well stocked craft room, and that's all I needed to make this cool faux pallet sign, which was inspired by artwork in the Ballard Designs catalog.
My faux bois project looks like the real thing, but it's lightweight because I used sheets of foam to make it.
A little Smooth Finish (a cool coating for foam), some hot glue, paint and decoupage sealer, and I had a faux pallet wood sign that looked like the real thing. You can get a step-by-step tutorial for how I made it, plus a supply list, at my blog.
I love how the sign turned out. It looks so pretty as part of my spring decor.
A faux pallet wood heart sign that looks like the real thing.
I used foam sheets, a heat knife and Smooth Finish to make my faux wood boards.
Instead of nails, I used hot glue to hold my sign together.
A few coats of gray paint in light and dark shades gave my sign the weathered wood look I was aiming for.
I decoupaged a newsprint heart on my sign, but you could decorate your pallet wood sign any way you want.
Here's a version of the faux pallet wood sign with a heart and sweet messages painted on it.
I paired my handpainted pallet wood sign with a vintage Corona typewriter.
My faux pallet wood typography heart sign is part of my spring foyer decorations. It's a tribute to how my husband and I met. We were both newspaper reporters when we started dating.

Great job all around with the faux wood, the buffet server, color palate, vintage typewriter, ... you nailed it ! How did you produced the text on the heart and paper inserted in the typewriter?
