Introducing Hometalk Hashtags!

Hashtags are a way of organizing your posts, and making it easy for others to find them. Clicking on a hashtag will bring you to a special hashtag search page of all other posts with that hashtag. If a certain hashtag becomes one of the most popular on the site, it will be added to the "hot" hash tags listed to the left of the hashtag search page. Right now, Best of 2012 is 'Hot!' Post your best project of 2012 using the hashtag in the body of your post and it will show up under the 'what's hot' list on the left side bar.

When did the pound sign become the hashtag sign?

@Christine P I think it started with Twitter. It's an easy way to find discussion around any specific topic. For example, right now we're talking #NewYearResolution
