Master bedroom makeover

I just ordered beautiful black, silver and white bedding for my bed with black and white drapes. I want to use General Finishes Chalk Paint to paint my furniture, not sure if I should paint it all BLACK or a Dark shade of Gray. Then my next problem is, what color to paint the walls. I was thinking of a adding a few decorative items in either RED or Lavender (pillows, candles, etc.). I am planning on using silver photo frames, painting all my "glass" items in a silver metallic paint, etc. Thoughts?

  • ...My vote is....lavender or shades of that color family :)...And the furniture....; I choose a ' silvery ' shade of grey ( I know, might seem boring..lol ) but its easy to change if you dont like it ( after all, its paint. ) ...maybe a grey rug, ? One that is more ' silvery ' than grey ...; personally , i prefer cream/ white walls , because anything looks good against them, and changing ones decor is easy if your walls are very neutral. The silver you speak of looks fabulous against black, grey and lavender. but I would also have a few crystal or glass items for ' sparkle. '...such as crystal- like bedside lamps with black shades ? :)...sounds so lovely, your bedding and your ideas !

I would paint my walls pale gray and use lavender accents. Red with your color palette brings me back to the late 80s decor, not a good memory. Lavender is one of the official colors of 2015 so you should be able to find a lot of accessories in this shade.

Thanks. I do have lamps currently in "gold" that I am planning on painting a metallic silver, I will paint the shades black and they do have some bling handing from the bottom of the shade. I was really leaning towards the lavender vs the red. I saw this color combo at HomeGoods and just fell in love with it. If I paint my furniture in the silver gray, I think doing the walls in a very very pale white with lavender under tones would look really nice. Ugh, I just redid my entire first floor and my daughters bedroom, it is time to do mine and then the den. I will post pictures when I am done. Keep the great suggestions coming!
    • @Diane Read ...Sounds like you will be a busy gal ! lol . We are looking forward to photos when you are finished , as General Finishes stated...would love to see your makeover !

go with RED; makes it all pop. black, white, grey with RED is way to go, any way you want; accessories, paint, decor, etc.

IMHO, I think the red would be too harsh. I think the lavender would be the way to go, especially with gray walls.

I would use a pale grey or silver tone on walls. These are popular colors and easy to coordinate with whenever you want to change things up again.
