New Foyer Floor

The client's guidance was pretty vague; "We want something that will make visitors gasp when they walk in the front door." "Yea, I can do that if you give me a bit of artistic license," I replied. They didn't want a typical compass rose, cornucopia, or abstract art inlay, so I decided to go the "Shock and Awe" approach. I first installed an 18" border of ebonized Cherry around the perimeter of the foyer. I followed that up with a 1/4" strip of brass. The center (picture) was made using Maple, Walnut and Mahogany. Tedious work? Perhaps. But well worth the effort.

The first quilt I made was with this Tumbling Block design. It is fantastic in wood as a floor too, you have a lucky client. Beautiful!

It looks so cool. I'd love to see how the outer area looks with the cherry and brass
