The Best DIY Chalk Paint Recipe

I've been making my own chalk paint for a couple of years. I love to use it as a base coat under milk paint, and for small projects as well. I've always used Plaster of Paris to make my chalk paint, but I recently had to try out the other base - calcium carbonate. Let me just tell you, in my opinion, there is a clear winner.
I mixed up a batch of each, trying to keep my "experiment" as controlled as possible.
Here's the little cabinet I painted. It's obviously not finished yet!
Head on over to the blog to check out the combination of powder, water, and paint I've found to be the best ratio.
Oh yeah, the winner is... calcium carbonate!
Of course, this is completely my own opinion, but I think I'll be making the switch over to calcium carbonate to whip up my chalk paint for most of my future projects!
