Painted Upholstery!

When I first saw these chairs ( two of them ) on Craigslist, I knew I wanted them. They were 50.00 a piece which is a steal for Bergere Chairs - and almost impossible to find as a set nowadays! They were in perfect condition structurally - but the fabric was original and extremely dated (ugly ugly ugly).
I was quoted 400.00 a chair to reupholster them - which wasn't happening (we're in the midst of renovations so I just can't justify that expense - not to mention I was blasted from here to eternity for even purchasing them LOL.)
I decided to paint them instead - a cost effective way to update any upholstery
I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - Pure White.

Hi Lorraine, you have done a great job! One question: how do you clean it? Thank you, Anne.

Hi Lorraine, I am not sure you got my comment so I ask again: can you please tell me how you clean it, once painted and waxed? I do not go ahead with my project because I am afraid of the result once I wash them... Thank you very much. Anne.

Chalk paint on the chair upholstery ,does it stain when you seat on it and is it hard ,or is it specially for material??? I think I need more info about the staying power of the paint . Please help me!
    • @Lorraine Alesia It's not as soft as the original fabric for sure - but once you wax it, it feels like a supple leather ( ette ) I personally wouldn't do it on something that gets heavy use ( but that's just me - I know others have done it with success ) I've only used it for occasional chairs and it's held up beautifully. The one step you can't skip on is watering down the paint !!!
