My dining room table has been bare ever since putting away my Christmas Decorations. It was in need of some serious attention and Spring decor. A rustic planter box seemed like the perfect solution to brighten up the space and add a touch of Spring.
I started by cutting a piece of 1x6 and 1x4 down to size to build the box. The 1x6 was used for the bottom, while the 1x4 was used for the sides.
I attached the pieces together using wood glue and screws.
To get the rustic look, I stained the wood with Minwax jacobean stain, painted it white then sanded it for a distressed look.
I filled the box with painted mason jars and a few Spring picks.
It's the perfect addition to my dining room table and love that it's so versatile!

Patricia on Mar 08, 2015I think the simplicity of the box is charming. Adding the handles was a perfect touch.
