Curb Rescue: Door to Floor Mirror

A few weeks before Christmas, I got a curb alert from a friend: ” There was a cool door on the curb”. The door was an arched 15 panel glass door and it was petty cool. At first wasn’t sure what to do with it, then it came to me: repurpose the door into a floor mirror.
The door had dirty glass panels, a few were cracked and held together with duct tape. It also had old mini blinds for privacy- or to hide the ugly.
I was hoping to strip the door down to the wood and stain it but the last layer of paint contained lead. I really didn’t want to have to get into using paint stripper and wet sanding so I decided to paint the door and distress it for more of a vintage feel.
You can see a closeup of the crackle finish.
When I got the door back from the mirror store, I added a glass knob from my collection and I found an old back plate in my stash.
You can see more pictures and read more about the door to floor mirror on the blog

Did you have the glass panels replaced with mirrored panels? Or did you treat the already existing glass panels with a mirror treatment so that it had a mirror effect?
