How to Beat the Long, Cold Winter Blues...a Springtime Planter

This time of year, the Winter Doldrums have taken root and I find myself desperately needing some signs of Spring and life in our home. This easy Springtime Planter is the perfect cure for those Winter Blues.
I started out with a "planter" that is not exactly traditional. A footed, Victorian crystal dish.
I started with some basic plants from the home store, the center was a small fern.
Then, I simply added small plants all around. I mixed in plants which were colorful and textural, too. Once I was satisfied with the arrangement, I add more soil between the plants and filled in with moss.
I love the small ivy plant that hangs gently down the front.
I added two small ceramic, white birds. (Salt and Pepper shakers from Target). They fit right in nestled amongst the leaves and moss.
For another look, I added a few stems of grocery-store flowers, a cute ceramic bunny set and a small glass cloche. You can see more on my blog, The Everyday Home.
