It all started with a plastic drinking bottle and a can of Krylon Pistachio spray paint. What I ended up with were beautiful faux jadeite shamrocks that I used as bowl fillers in an ironstone bowl.
Begin by finding a plastic water bottle with the bottom shaped like a clover. Mine is from Sam's Club and has three "clover leaves" but I have seen some with four or more. Cut the bottom off of the bottle and dry it out.
You will want to use Krylon's Pistachio spray paint in a satin finish. I also tried an emerald green gloss but the paint puddles in the bottom of the clover and doesn't give the same coverage at the satin. Make sure to use a light coat of paint and give each clover a couple of coats so that they are covered well.
That's it! Find an ironstone bowl and some spanish moss and you're set. You can also use this method of glassware.
You'll find more photos and tips on my blog, The Altered Past.
