Kitchen Caddy

We needed a place to keep all of our kitchen sink stuff organized. Before everything was scattered around the counter near the sink or stuffed in the cabinet under the sink. The scrub brushes weren't always clean (kid doing dishes chores) when tossed behind the faucet which always left such a mess. So when we were upgrading our kitchen I knew we needed a place for everything but it had to look good in our "new" kitchen.
I found this metal planter and a thrift store that was the perfect size. It also has tiny little ball feet so if water is left sitting on the counter (by the kids of course) the caddy wouldn't be sitting in water. A few coats of spray paint and the planter looked new and fit perfectly in our kitchen.
Now we can toss scrub brushes and soap and things in the caddy and our counters look nicer.
While I was spraying the planter I also sprayed a lid for a glass jar, added a knob to store our dishwasher tabs in. The make the perfect pair and really do add a pop of color in our kitchen.
I love giving a new use to something, and am happy to say our kitchen is staying nice and tidy, well at least by the sink. ;)

Beautiful! I use an antique glass salt container but am finding it is not big enough....love your idea.

I tried several containers for same purpose, most happy presently with handled wicker basket... doesn't allow water to accumulate within...
