We took our dirty, carpeted stairs.....
And transformed them into an architechtural feature of our home!
It took a lot of work, and lots of man hours to spruce them up, but I think the results were well worth it.
It wasn't difficult, and anybody with patience for sanding and painting can do this!
It doesn't take special skills or a lot of money to complete a transformation like this.

I have already taken off the old ugly carpets from my stairs, extracted all the staples and nails, and sanded all the stairs. I am no in the process of staining and painting. But i was stumped as to ho to fill in the gaps along the stairs. Now i see that the GAP wood filler is the way to go. Purchasing this products, my next thing on my agenda Monday morning. Thank you for your suggestion. Your stairs looks beautiful by the way. I only hope mine looks half that good when i am finished. Thanks.

Loved your stairs..i ripped the stairs carpet too and saw some gaps but no crack. We want to install a new stair tread or hardwood floor plank, what would you suggest to do with the gaps? My plan for the riser to cover it with new oak plywood and stain to match the new tread. Thanks for use future suggestion.
Where is the tutorial
I see plastic wood & paint pictured, but where's the paintable caulk? Caulk should be used ANYWHERE two surfaces meet, especially with plane changes. Stair treads flex...plastic wood/wood filler does not. It will crack and fall out over time. I learned this early on in renovating homes!
