The Ampersand: Knock Off Art

For the past few weeks, I have been knocked off my feet with bronchitis. Oh woe is me! After a few days of being bed bound, I was just itching to "do" something. But it had to be something quiet that did not require anything too physical or any sanding.
In the fall, in a furniture flyer from "The Bay" (yes, the Hudson Bay Company up here in Canada) I fell in love with a spread for a Mid Century Modern room. I loved the whole look but what really drew my attention was a giclee print sporting a big AMPERSAND.
The chest of drawers with the various wood stains is also VERY cool, but I really liked the Amersand print.

Reading the fine print, I found the framed print was on sale for $130! I did not love it enough to pay that much cash but in the back of my mind, I figured I could probably do my own knockoff.
My plan was to use a dollar store stretched canvas and wrapping paper, my Silhouette Cameo and Mod Podge to create my own art piece.
Isn't this pretty wrapping paper? I thought is would be perfect but it proved to be problematic.
Visit my blog to see the end result. Personally, I think mine is prettier and fresher and of course, "Nicer Than New"
