Using just burlap ribbon, a paper plate, and hot glue, I created this large burlap flower, perfect for hanging on the front door or over a large mirror. A cluster of them would make a big statement for a party or wedding!
This easy wall or door decor was made burlap ribbon glue to a paper plate. This make a large (over 12 inch diameter) flower that is perfect to hang on the door, wall, or large mirror.
The supplies you'll need are: 11 feet of 5-inch wide burlap ribbon in one color for the petals, and 3 feet in a color for the center, a paper plate for the backing, scissors, and hot glue to attach it all.
Cut the ribbon you've chosen for the petals (mine's white-natural) into 6 inch strips. Fold the strip in half with finished edges together and cut a curved line up the side. This forms the petal shape.
Pinch the bottom (flat side) of the petal and glue together. You'll need to make 22 of these petals.
For the outer row, I glued 13 petals, followed by 9 more petals glued in the center row.
For the center, take the 3 foot strip of burlap ribbon and begin by gluing one end into the center of the plate. Continue gluing down the ribbon every few inches. Basically, you sort of bunch of the ribbon and glue down the areas that are touching the plate. This part is very easy and forgiving so don't be afraid to just glue and tuck the ribbon to the center. Finish off the flower by gluing a paperclip to the back if you want to hang it.
Here's the flower before I found it's place to hang. It's pretty large, pretty easy and quick, and looks great with spring decor. More pics and instructions on the blog.
