Family Room Makeover (10 Years in the Making!)

Our house was built in 1978....and still looked like it was 1978 when we moved in, in 2004! We have worked hard to update every single inch of it over the last 11 years. We've replaced basically every element at this point. In this post, I'm sharing the before and after photos of the entire room. Walls removed, etc.
We called the Family Room...the CAVE because it was so incredibly dark when we moved in. It's amazing how paint (and the white board and batten) changed the look of the room so completely. The is the before shot of the fireplace. We painted it and removed the paneling. We also installed light fixtures on either side of the mantel there where the outlets are. (odd place for outlets!)
Looking towards the font windows. You won't believe what it looks like now!! Stop by the blog in the link below to see it and the rest of the room including where we took a wall out to open things up!
Looking towards the back of the room....you wouldn't even recognize this room now!! It is a bright, light, airy space now, believe it or not!
