I have an ugly bank of windows at the top of my bedroom wall

I have a bank of ugly windows along the top of my bedroom wall. They are to give light on the landing, but soo shockingly ugly! They have safety glass in them, which just makes it worse. I thought of maybe removing the glass and putting fretwork inside, or stained glass film. I can't remove them as I rent my home from a housing association. Any ideas please!!! :D

@Ashrael you have taught me a new word - thanks. I have never heard the term fretwork before so I had to look it up. Looks pretty impressive and may work. In order to get the best advice a picture would help and would stimulate the creativity found on this site. Another idea might be to stencil the windows in a geometric pattern. Hope you get the info you are looking for.

@Ashrael Transom windows are there for light and if you fretwork try a copper looking color. I just installed 2 and only 2 in my home in the states, but I live in the country and get a great country view and no direct sunlight. The stained glass film is also a great idea. Just do what works for you! You could even put up a long row of long curtains and make the wall a focal point and open the curtains for the light when needed. Whatever you decide have fun with it and good luck! You have great idea's!

If you're artistic or have a friend who is, why not paint a 'stained glass' design on the glass? I've done it on front storm doors. Look for something that suits your design style. Make a template as a guide. I used acrylic paint. Just be sure to not paint too close to the window's frame. It can be removed(washed away). Or! Look for decorative removeable plastic decals that adhere to glass. Look at paint stores....wallpaper shops or web search. Do these windows have a ledge? A place to set colorful glass bottles? Or...set plants on? Good luck!

Maybe make a farmed box with shelfs and add some plants. If It gets only morning sun. Display some of your favorite things.

thanks a lot everyone! I will post a pic if my daughter remembers to bring my camera back tomorrow! ;) fretwork is an English word then? no real ledge to speak of. I could maybe remove the glass and hang things in the space. thanks again! NOW...can anyone tell me how I can change my house into an American house, with seperate laundry room, basement to store all my treasures in, and craft room!!! haha! No? ;D

Am a little confused how the bank of windows in a bedroom could provide light for a landing? Like the idea of washable. You could also get that spray on frosting that looks like etched glass, and use a stencil if you want a nice pattern. This would allow the light in. This would not interfere with your bedroom colours.

the windows are on the INSIDE wall of my bedroom, the wall is bedroom/landing wall. I couldn't, unfortunatly, use a stencil, as the windows are safety glass, so have that horrible wire running through them. that's why I want them covered or removed. But thanks for ideas :)

Sounds you could just remove them if you aren't concerned about privacy or sound issues.

Corn starch and water make a great frost like finish that is removable when you decide what you really want to do. Get some old lace panels cut them to size and mod podge it in with the corn starch paste.

I got a pretty window film that is green leaves and it just clings with a bit of soap and water. Got it on Amazon.... they have a million patterns and designs.... https://www.amazon.com/Adhesive-Landscape-Environmental-Decorative-Customizable/dp/B07RFS2ZM1/ref=sr_1_50?keywords=green+leaves&qid=1558376429&s=furniture&sr=1-50

Hi, Either add a Cling or Sticky backed Film, or add a shelf and display attractive glass items.
