Use a Vintage Industrial Spool to Organize Ribbons and Lace

Vintage industrial spools are great for decorating and adding charm to nooks and crannies but they are also fabulous for use as an organizer.
I purchased a vintage industrial spool over the winter at my favorite local antique store along with an illuminated globe (I am a sucker for anything that lights up!). I had pinned an idea for a vintage spool years ago and thought this would be perfect for the execution of my long-awaited pin project.
I gathered what I needed to turn the vintage beauty into a craft room organizer ~ ribbon, lace, pretty straight pins, cup hooks and rulers, clothespins and a broken yard stick.
I drilled holes into the tops of the rulers and on one side of the wooden clothespins.
I cut up the broken yardstick into equal-sized pieces, sanded the rough edges and drilled a hole to the top of these as well.
I drilled holes at the top rim of the spool for the cup hooks and screwed those in. I wound ribbon around the rulers and yardstick sections, held this in place with the pretty straight pins and used the clothespins to hold some vintage napkins and doilies. This was such an easy project and is a great way to add charm and organization to the craft room. You can see more pictures and details at the link below!
