Trunk Makeover, Paint Haters Look Away

I've had this old trunk for years, we used it to store Christmas decorations. I felt like redoing a trunk, and it was time to get rid of some Christmas stuff so off we go!
I didn't have a picture in my head of the graphics I wanted to use on this, I had a few ideas.
I had started to make this trunk over in the early '90's but didn't get very far.
The paper lining was in pretty good shape, but smelled quite musty. I gave it 2 coats of oil based poly but the chemical smell was very strong, so I coated it with water based poly and it was great, no chemical or musty smell.
I tore off all the old wallpaper.
I gave the whole thing a couple of coats of ASCP Emperor's red.
I settled on the compass rose.
And added this quote on top of it, problem was, it was too confusing looking.
I had to tone down the white with stain, and then enhance the words with some highlights.
I added feet that I turned on the lathe.
