Look at vinyl sheet flooring, stick-on tiles, luxury vinyl planks, or that epoxy coating that's made especially for concrete. Or if it's not damp, go for seagrass matting. You can put anything on concrete, including floating wood floors or floating deck panels.

      Darla,

I have had great success with inexpensive peel and press vinyl tile on raw plywood, concrete, and other projects like the shelf on a bar.

Have you thought of staining the floor. Here in Texas a lot of the homes have stained concrete floors and they look fantastic. They are easy to keep clean too

You can paint the floor...snd even stencil something theme related if you want just be sure to give it several coats of poly to protect and throw in a little fine sand if you want slip resistance

There's a catalog called Lakeside that has a wood tile that is meant for patios but it might work for your room. They have a website it's : lakeside.com.

Have you hears of rubber tiles? The all interlock, can be cut to size with a knife and they are not expensive. they are easy to clean and if you damage one you can just replace it with a new one. Perfect for a man cave.

I would paint with cement paint and then stencil if you like a pattern all over the floor. Besides adding interest, dirt and things left on the floor wont show up as much.

If you're looking for "cheap", paint is your best friend. You can stencil (as someone else mentioned) or just paint it one solid color. Then you can put an area rug on it if you'd like. If you want to use one of the rugs you currently have, pick a paint color that coordinates with it and it'll look nice. Concrete floors take paint exceptionally well. BUT remember if you're going to put cars in the garage, you may occasionally get oil leaks...not good for paint ;-) I've painted a cement floor below grade in a laundry room and it held up wonderfully.

Concrete floor paint with "flakes" scattered on creates a very nice look.

You find the flakes in the paint section of any home store usually gray/black or brown/black.

Be certain to buy lots of bags of flakes you don't want to run out (return the unused bags) and use lots of them throw an ample amount of fakes on the wet paint.

This finish wears very well holds up for years indoors and outdoors.
