$10 bar stools! a steal, now what should I do with them?

Love these and they're soooo comfy! I'm searching for some good colour ideas. I've tried to show the granite island colour along with the colour of the cabinets and then looking into the open living room (which I'm about to have to paint too) I'm open to any and all ideas and am also open to leaving them 'retro' but somehow think a lighter or different colour on the cane will make them look that much more inviting! Ideas ladies??

OMG! I've been wanting to replace my bar stools and get 3, but I don't want to spend money. I want to say that if I see these 2nd hand I'm grabbing them. Love this.

What color will the cabinets be?
  • Katt13 Katt13 on Mar 31, 2015
I think going lighter like a white wash or light distressed would look really nice. Depending also on the color you are painting the cabinets.

I agree with Katt13 on whitewashing, but I would also do this to the stands they are on, simply because it appears from pics that the black looks out of place. Maybe a whitewash then an antiquing stain?

@Katt13 - the cabinets are a cream, they're staying as is, it's the walls that have to be painted, it's a new build (coming up on 3 years) so overdue for their 3&4th coats. The cabinets are cream that are custom to go with the granite.... so not changing either they're nearly new!!! it's just the stools. @1 result is available, use up and down arrow keys to navigate.Anna Ibarra I hear ya! found these on varagesale.com......awesome price and in perfect condition!

I would do a pop of color on chair part and paint the base a cream to match the cabinets.

It depends if you are will to invest with the bar stools. I would paint them and recover in some type of pearl/metallic...Easy to do. You can then paint kitchen any color.

@Mindy Siegel I live beside a lake in the laurentians (north of Montreal) I've kind of tried to keep the theme in the house a little 'country' since outdoors is a lot of country! although I LOVE the pearl metallic idea, I don't think it would work with the rest of the place.... the kitchen is Benjamin Moore's 'simply white' not changing it right now....

Paint them black and recover the seats in a heavy black and cream print.

@Ginger Penny mmmmmm I'm liking this idea.....mmmmm I want to diy so have to decide if I'm up to the task of recover round seat cushions that have been there for 40+ years!

Recover the seats after spraying the chairs off white.

Find the fabric that speaks to you & then you will just know what color to do the chairs or you may just find the right fabric to make them work the way they are.
