Wood Plank Sign

Easy
When I gave my kitchen a mini-makeover a few years ago, I knew I wanted to add a statement piece to my big blank wall. And the perfect solution hit me as I was walking through my fathers garage and saw a bin full of cedar planks, which had been sitting there for 20 years. They were already the perfect length, so I brought them home and got to work.
I used wood glue to attach the planks together and then added two support planks along the back. I added picture hooks to the back as well for easy hanging.
I designed the stencil in Illustrator and then printed it on a large format printer and used an Xacto knife to cut it out. I used a spray adhesive to adhere it to the planks and used a foam pouncer and acrylic paint. My daughter hand drew the blue hearts and I painted them.
The final result turned out even better than I hoped. Even after three years, this sign STILL makes me smile. And when anyone new comes to my home, they always comment on this piece. It is definitely a DIY project that I am proud of!

@seven thirty three , since this was my first time at stenciling, I just grabbed a cheap serving tray I got at dollar store and tried your printable. Ok for first time, may need to print next time on card stock so it's not so floppy when applying paint. Thanks again for the idea. I've got this hanging in my "silver" bathroom above the towel rack. Gives me ideas of other saying "regarding bathrooms" to stencil and hang.
