Tips and Tricks for Coloring Easter Eggs

This year I decided to get creative with coloring eggs since my son is 2 1/2 and I wasn't sure if he would sit through dying eggs. A woman at work raved to me about how much her toddlers loved PAAS color snaps so I decided to give them a try.
Right after I decided to use the color snaps a coworker came up to me with a tray that displays liquid water enhancers on store shelves and asked if I wanted to use them to hold dyed eggs while they dried. I jumped at her genius idea and had her grab as many as she could get since dying eggs is a big family event.
Here's a picture of the trays, they hold crystal light and mio liquid water enhancers.

They are the perfect size for eggs!
The color snaps come in five colors: pink, yellow, green, blue and purple. To use these q-tip color filled contraptions you just snap the top area where the line is. Then all the color flows down to one end of the q-tip that you use to "color" your eggs. I'll admit I snapped the purple one and got sprayed in the face a little bit (luckily it washed right off). This is not the cleanest activity but neither is dying eggs the traditional way.
My son immediately loved the color snaps. He held onto the egg and colored all around his hand. He thoroughly enjoyed coloring the eggs with the color snaps. He never got bored and he colored all one dozen eggs
We also colored eggs the traditional way with our family. My son actually sat there for a while and helped dye all the eggs but he did grow bored and left the table before we were finished, with the color snaps he stayed until all the eggs were completely done.
The trays helped immensely to keep the mess contained (along with the roll of paper my sister in law put over the table) while the eggs dried.
There also was no mess in the egg carton from the eggs thanks to the trays. To read more on egg dying or for more pictures check out my blog :)
