Upcycled DIY Marquee Sign

A few months ago while browsing the thrift shop aisles, I came across some wall art for $12. Although it wasn’t my taste, I knew I could deconstruct it, and turn it into a fun sign for my creative workspace.
You can view the full post and tutorial over on my blog, UpcycledTreasures.com.
Here is the before photo.
The first thing I did was remove the art {which was made out of thin wood} from the frame. It was just glued on and it came off pretty easily. I did this because I wanted to take the image from the front of the frame, and move it to the back, giving it more of a shadow box effect.
The holes were drilled using a 5/8 spade bit and the frame and board were re-painted - using Annie Sloan Old White and a random mix of turquoise paint.
Then the globe lights were screwed in one by one.
I created the gold quote on using my Silhouette machine and used transfer paper to move into onto the board.
Here is what it looked like all finished.
Here is the marquee sign lit up.
