Help me choose a color!!

Hey y'all I have a vintage Drexel set I picked up in great condition, all I did was a little sanding and wood fill at bottom edges, I'm stuck! I can't seem to commit :/ The set is an Esperanto, a Spanish series, but it screams Doris Day to me lol.. Soooo...chiffon yellow, pink blue white green?? Anybody?

It depends on the colours in our house, what room are you putting it in. Is there a picture in the room that this is going in that you really like, if so take a colour from it so that they can match in a way.

The dresser has the same inserts behind the lattice/trellis section. I think may have to make a few color swatches and see what ideas they bring.

@Beatrice Tangeman I agree with @Roxanne Fortune above - it all depends on the colors in which the pieces are going to be in. You want to create a color story with your pieces and not have a lonely piece that doesn't belong. Can you post a picture of where you are going to put the pieces? This will help us give you a better idea for choosing the right color. http://christinetse.com/ http://bit.ly/SuperSecret10MinuteDreamHomeMakeover

Either sage green or a pretty French blue. Let us know what you decide.
  • Patricia Patricia on Apr 02, 2015
I agree with @Joann Jarvis and vote for a sage green. But whatever you choose be sure to post photos!

The color choices are unlimited :-) What style/look are you going for? Where will it be used? Is it for you or someone else? So many choices :-) If you're going to sell it, you might want to stay sorta neutral. Then again if your market dictates brighter colors, for some reason orange speaks to me :-) Go online to one of the paint companies to do a "colorization" . You upload your photo and can 'paint' it any color you want to see how it would look. I use Sherwin Williams site. It's free and fun to use.

Soft gray in a satin finish, change out the panels and use some kind of glass or crystal handles

There are 2 colors in the 2015 popular colors you might consider. These are Gifford Green by Benjamin Moore HC116 and Moody Blue by SW6221. They appear to be soft, versatile colors that would match or compliment many colors of bedding or curtains. But then there is also Irish Cream SW7537 which may appeal to a wider group. I can't wait to try them on some nightstands I'm getting ready to refinish. Best of luck on whatever color you choose. Do post your finished pieces!

I know that indigo is one of the popular colors this year. Anything denim (indigo). I am getting ready to do a large cabinet and dresser for my granddaughters room. Just bought her quilt with several prints on it all in white and indigo. So she said she wants the other pieces the same. We have gotten paint chips and getting ready to paint.

That quilt sounds really pretty, you are right; I have seen many blue pieces. Thanks for the input :)

Try looking at the colors that are on trend for the year and that may give you a hint on which way to go for you pieces. Hope that will help you more, good luck.

I have a few ideas, with so much wood, I think lighter may be best but here goes: cream or very, very pale pastel (pink?) with glass knobs; Dark eggplant or indigo with silver (or gold)hardware; light to medium gray with black hardware? You could do red but it would have to be a deep bluish red, not orange red whoever buys it will have some spice but can still relax! I think it's beautiful and you really can't go wrong. Please share ur results !

Have you had it valued? Because Drexel is usually pricey furniture, if it's old, even more valuable. Painting it would trash that value. Other than that, Drexel does have some painted pieces, maybe follow that lead.

I have this entire bedroom set and I love it. I would be interested in purchasing the handles from you if you decide to change them out, since I have a couple of broken ones.

Pale sage green with grey would be pretty too. Honestly go with your heart.
