How to make a pendant lamp seen in PB Teen

BEAUTIFUL!!! I'm a PB junkie I just can't afford any of its awesome & ridiculously overpriced stuff! I'm 32, a die hard surfer girl & love PB Teen the most! So its no surprise that I want basically EVERYTHING from the PB Teen Early Spring 2015 catalog! I actually want to move into the room shown on pages 65 & 67! My dad works at Micheal's so I'm working on doing the Tie-Dye bedding, I'm working on an iron on transfer version of the adorable Water Color Sea Creature Pillows but I"m stuck on 3 items. The Surf Board Storage mirror may be impossible to do myself but the Half a surfboard shelf above the bed (not even for sale seems doable) any ideas? What I REALLY want to do myself is make the Ombre Capiz Pendant! On sale for $149 before shipping? I think not! i know you can buy lighting fixtures where its just the bulb, cord, etc, & I have seen those pendants @ Micheals I just can't figure out how the put it together, can you PLEASE help?

Could you cut circles out of laminating plastic or clear plastic cookie and cake box covers, c13 I think it is called, try using Easter egg dye/food coloring to see if it take that color, another choice would be to try using a high lighter to see how the color takes. If the coloring works then either staple the circles into strings, or pierce the top and bottom with a darning needle and tie together with fishing line

Perhaps nail polish could color the plastic circles also

Use a wire wreath frame, you can find them at most craft stores, with fish line.

cut the circles from plastic milk jugs...... I'm likin' this idea. Go over edges with fine grained sand paper. Acrylic paint thinned with Elmer's glue to give the transparent and glossy effect.

I would see if I could lay my hands on an old lamp shade, then strip it and use that as the frame. I have a box of these 'discs' which I purchased years ago. It is not a light, but a 'curtain'. The ones I have are clear/white, but I love the color of the ones in your photograph, and am inspired to also give this a try. I think I would try dying the 'discs' using either Kool Aid or food coloring. Please keep us all posted on what you do!

Try paillettes - large round flat sequins that come in all kinds of colors and sizes. Second choice would be to make the disks out of stained glass paints. The ones that dry clear. I've made rippley glass with the light green to imitate antique glass and it is very pliable and easy to cut. I made rows and rows of wavy lines so they merged with each other and then when it dried it looked like a sheet of bumpy glass.

You could join the discs together using jump rings. This are sold at bead or craft shops and would be ideal for the purpose. I am sure you would probably also be able to buy small S-rings to join the ones at the top to the circle. I really like Wendy Vasion's idea of using plastic milk jugs.

You can use a white drop light, a metal wreath form, sprayed white and then attach the capiz with fine fishing line. Can't wait for you to post the finished product when you finally make it :)

I made a faux capiz shell table chandelier with wax paper (iron 4 sheets together) then cut with circle punches. Then I sewed and even hot glued long strings and then attached them to an old lamp shade frame. I've been wanting to add color to the next one with ground up crayons between the wax paper layers. Experiment with colored tissue and wax paper? Good luck!...

You can do the wax paper by layering 4 sets of wax paper together then using the circle punch. But I don't know how to make them colored paint seems to solid but I have not tried yet.

I've been all set to get started on my project for well over a year....

I've procrastinated while I've spent hours and hours searching up & down and in all corners of the internet, for ideas on tinting/coloring the wax paper for faux capiz shells.

And Now, by George, I think I just stumbled onto the answer!!

Tissue Paper!! ...After all the searching through tutorials & videos etc. I've never come across any suggestion of tissue paper previously.
