A Painted Toy Closet

After a large flood in our basement we needed to start over and this included the toy closet. I wanted something that didn’t scream out that it was a toy closet which means and didn’t look like a crayola box when you open the doors. I saw a deep blue closet with all white storage while browsing one day and I had a plan.
Warm deep blue walls were painted Velvet Rope by Behr. It only needed one coat to get the color I was looking for.
I started with all white walls and an existing closet track system for shelves.
I painted right over the closet tracks on the walls. Once the shelves were filled up they dissappeared into the wall!
I had 18 inche deep melamine shelves cut to fit the closet. The extra deep shelves allow for more storage.
I started collecting storage bins in shades fo white and neutrals. All different materials were used, metal, cardboard and wood. Keeping them all the same colors meant I could mix and match as much as I wanted.
Plenty of storage for puzzles, games, Lego’s, dress up, etc. Everything can be labeled and easily found.
Some open glass containers do add a bit of color, but not too much!
Metal trash bins hold the bigger items. Magnetic chalkboard labels means I can change it around anytime.
