Repurposed Armoire Into Kids Art Center/Desk

This pint sized armoire was a curb find--gotta love FREE! After seeing a sewing cabinet on t.v. I decided this piece would be great for a kid's art center. There were some glitches along the way, and I was about to put it BACK out to the curb . . .
I'm glad I hung in there, because I really love how it turned out. So much storage that can be hidden away behind those chalkboard doors.
Those who know me well won't be surprised there was some sawing going on. :) I love sawing furniture and changing it up.
The fold down table was really the easy part of this project. Finding-building some doors that worked well was the challenge. If you have an armoire that already has doors, you're good to go!
This piece would fit perfectly in any room of the home as is, change out the knobs and it would be right at home in the child's bedroom or playroom.

I love this so much and it turned out amazing! I am about to start the same project for myself and can you please advise me on some things?

What kind and what size of wood did you use for the table?

I read about your issues with hinges, I feel like I might be hinge challenged too any particular kind to look for so the doors open to the sides of the armoire?

Any advice for the rest of the armoire I would greatly appreciate because I am making this for my cricut cabinet and the way you did yours just looks perfect. Thank you in advance for any pointers you can give.

I love to see people that repurpose old furniture into something new and useful. I do not know of any little one that would not love to have their own space for creating beautiful artwork. Thanks for sharing.
