4 Simple Ways To Clean a Yoga Mat

Washing your yoga mat after each use is like always wearing a clean pair of socks every time you work out. (Everyone else keeps the same pair in their gym bag all week, right? Not just me?) The only difference is your yoga mat touches your face – and no one needs a sweat facial on a regular basis.
So, here’s a list of ways to clean your yoga mat, based on the amount of time you have!
When You Have 30 Minutes

If it’s been a few months and you haven’t used those disinfectant-smelling wipes at the studio, it might be time for the big papa clean. Mix about a tablespoon of detergent, we recommend Woolite, with a gallon of water. You can do this in a bucket and clean your mat outside or in the bathtub.

Scrub your mat with the soft side of the sponge or a washcloth and rinse until clean. Be sure you let your yoga mat fully dry before you roll it up.

When You Have 5 Minutes

Combine 2 tablespoons of white vinegar and 5 drops of your favorite essential oil with water in a 32oz. spray bottle. This solution will act as an antibacterial spray to keep your mat clean between sessions.

Spray your mat down between each session and wipe the solution with a wash cloth.

When You Have No Minutes

Buy these yoga mat wipes, have them shipped right to your door and use after every practice.

If You Don’t Want to Clean Your Mat Ever Again

Start using this no-slip yoga towel. This’ll cover your mat, catch your sweat, and you can wash and dry it with your laundry. Who knows, you might appreciate some extra cushion for your pushin’.
