What to do with five feet next to garage for covered storage

We have a little less than five feet next to our garage.The side is also next to the neighbors fence. We would like to use it for an area of covered storage. Any suggestions?

Make a covered pergola and get a sturdy vine to take on and get those narrow storage sheds at least it will look nice and your neighbors w/b grateful as well. Or if u don't want the pergola- get the sheds and put a pretty gate at the front w/a cute wreath or etc.

Just a word of caution...talk to your local municipality before doing anything. You don't want to get into a property encroachment issue. I can see a easily movable structure placed in this area but anything that could be considered permanent, you might have a problem with. There's a reason we have distance between us and our neighbors. Not for privacy but city and state fire codes.

You already have three sides built. Maybe pour some concrete or put some decking tiles so you have a nice floor. and then a few posts and a pergola or awning. That would be what i would explore

be sure the water from your new roof/cover drains to your own property and not to your neighbors : )

Decomposed granite gravel. Scrape the sod, lay permeable weed mat, use metal edging on the fencing sides. Easy to maintain, water percolates through so no run-off as opposed to concrete. Metal roofing and treated wood posts for support for a cover, attach a gutter if you slope to one side and you could then rain-water harvest as well. Just some thoughts. I have just such a section and we granite graveled the entire strip and it really cut down on maintenance. We use a small propane tank weed burner occasionally for weed control. I plan on attaching potted plants/hanging plants to the posts as we have bedroom windows facing the fence. So you see color right out your window. Good luck - it's a hard area to landscape/use.

make a path with recycled brick down the middle put white stone down either side and plant succulents as it will not get a lot of sun if you want flowers impatiens love shade

Once you have found a way to direct the water away from your garage, you could build a lean to, or a roof angled down towards the fence.
