Have the same problem, try coca cola. Turn off the water valve, flush the toilet. Then fill the basin with coke and let sit for an hour or so. Flush. Then turn the water back on.

You can also try a paste made of cream of tarter and vinegar. Let it sit a few house then wipe away the rust stains.

Get Lime-A-Way or CLR will clean rust a away. You may have to do it a couple of time. If it is bad take paper towels & wet with one of the products push the paper towels around edge. Keep towels wet.

Agree with the above that's what I finally had to use was a pumice Stone. I bought a house that belonged to a 92 year old man and I'm not sure if he ever cleaned the toilet or if

anybody was ever brave enough to touch it LOL Anyway, I tried everything to no avail and about the time I was ready to give up I thought I'd try one more thing and that was a pumice stone. Is a little scrubbing not much it was a miracle. So save yourself a few dollars in a lot of aggravation and go to your closest hardware store and pick up a couple pumice stones you, you may need one for backup if you have boys or hard water stains LOL
