Mother's Day Cards With Acrostic Poems

May is so busy with teacher appreciation, end of school activities, graduations, and Mother’s Day that I like to get a head start on my projects. This year I decided to write a couple of acrostic poems for mother’s day. An acrostic poem uses the letters of the word you have chosen to start each line of the poem. Each line relates or describes the word you have chosen. I did a "Mother" poem and "Mommy" poem. I thought it would be fun to make cards to display the poems.

I made this card with paper flowers, a hot glue gun, card stock, rounded corner punch and pre-folded green card. I took the pre-folded 5×7 green card and laid paper flowers out in the shape of a heart. Next was the tricky part…how to glue them. I took a piece of paper, placed it over the flowers, and flipped the card so that I now had the back side of the flowers (like you would flip a cake). I put hot glue all over the back of the flowers and flipped again. I just had one spot I had to adjust.

For the inside, I chose a piece of orange cardstock and cut it so that it is slightly smaller than than the card and rounded the edges with my corner punch. I repeated the process for the poem (visit The Resourceful Mama blog to print) after I printed it. I cut it slightly smaller than the orange paper and also rounded the edges. I had some paper flowers leftover from the outside, so I glued one to the top corner.

This is the 2nd card I put together for Mother's Day. For this card, I used a pre-folded 5x7 card, washi tape, cardstock, rounded corner punch, craft glue, and paper flowers. Using my washi tape I made a horizontal line and then a vertical line over it. I glued the 3 paper flowers onto the card.

For the inside, I cute a piece of yellow dot scrapbook paper so that it was just smaller than the card. The next step was to add the acrostic poem (print on the blog). After printing it, I cut the paper so that it was slightly smaller than the yellow paper and used a corner punch to round the corners. I just love how these cards turned out. They will be perfect for Mother's Day. Don't forget to visit The Resourceful Mama and print the acrostic poems for your cards.
