Organized Kid's Closet With IKEA Laundry System and Chalkboard Labels

This kid's closet needed a major de-cluttering and reorganization. I used IKEA's ALGOT laundry system as a relatively inexpensive option. It's modular and versatile, and easily customized to the dimensions of a space. The wire mesh bins keep items visible but tidy.

To personalize the system and add a bit of style, I created chalkboard labels for each bin so that clothes are easily found and easily tidied away.

These blank switchplate covers from the hardware store cost only about a dollar. Since they already have holes at each end they're easily attached with any kind of wire, tie or string instead of the screws that come with them. With a quick sanding and two coats of chalkboard paint they become a stylish labelling option.

Seasoning the surface with chalk gives an authentic chalkboard look. I added lettering with a white paint Sharpie.

I ended up with loads of space for a kid's clothes in a way that looks stylish and tidy. Check out the font I used on the labels and how I transferred it, along with more photos. http://bit.ly/1Ey9Kaa

We had this exact same set up growing up, with the same IKEA shelves and all. Once we live closer to an IKEA, I'll be doing the same thing!
