Seed Storage Ideas

Easy
Gardening season is here! Well, technically gardening season is year-round, but with the winter we had this year, gardening was the last activity I wanted to do. My winter crop this year was far from successful. I have a lot of leftover seeds, both from last spring and the fall. I’m trying to improve my gardening skills and how best to manage when each plant should go into the ground. Given my love of organization, I felt inspired to round-up my favorite seed storage ideas to get started this season!
Storing seeds properly is important to help keep out moisture and fluctuating temperatures. Personally, I’m more concerned with keeping track of when to plant what and managing the seeds I have available. Some of these ideas are perfect for keeping track.
Use glass jars or Tic Tac boxes to label your seeds and offer an air-tight storage solution to keep seeds free from moisture.
Personally, I’m always a fan of any idea that allows me to play with ribbon and paper. These two ideas are a great way to make use of items you may already have around the house.

I especially love the idea (left) of a seed box using upcycled shoe boxes from A Piece of Rainbow. I’m a fan of any idea that makes use of old shoe boxes–plus they’re so sturdy and work great for organizing.
How creative is the idea of origami seed boxes (left) from Little Blog on the Homestead? I especially love that there’s room to write tips and notes about the seeds.

Last but not least, Lovely Greens shares a simple, but genius idea for using a photo album to organize seeds. It’s such a great way to quickly see what you have in your seed library, while preventing and fumbling or damage to the seed packages.
