Straw bale gardening

I'd like to 'dig in' this year with some straw bale gardening. I've got the most basic of the basic instructions along with some straw bales coming my way soon. I'm hoping to avail myself of the vast experience from any Hometalkers out there who are inclined to post information and, hopefully, some pictures of their straw bale gardens - past, present, or future...even 'fails' are learning experiences. Thanks for your efforts.
