Coffee Table Goes Gold

So we got this little beauty for $15 off Craigslist we definietly didn't need another table in our apartment and we definitely did not need a hexagon table for that matter. But I still wanted it because I fell in love with the details of the table, that beautiful pillar woodwork and those carvings. I just had to have it.
The table was in a pretty decent condition except for the fact that there was noticeable damage on top of the table. But that still didn't stop me from getting it.
So my plan of action to cover the top of the table was none other then some good old Gold Leafing because firstly I've been wanting a Gold Leafed Table since forever and Secondly it was the perfect way and I might add a beautiful way to cover up the table.
I taped the damaged part in a diagonal manner just to give it a design and then started with the leafing. For the other part I went in with my masking tape and taped a Geometric Pattern. Then I went over the masking tape with some Liquid Gold Gilding.
I topped off the table with two coats of Polycrylic and sprayed a High Gloss Sheen on top.

Now a once sad looking table is completely transformed into a luxurious little piece.

You can also take the doors off and use it as an end table AND a pet bed. Put your pet bed inside and either remove one or both of the doors. Cats love to get in dark places to sleep and this is perfect. It also gives your pet a place to be in a private space when it wants. I saw this idea a long time ago and I have this same table but in good shape. Am going to get a housecat and do this.
