Craft Storage From an Old Bill Organizer With Paint and Mod Podge

Do you have an old bill organizer that you're not using anymore since you pay your bills online? Repurpose it to store your crafts, or greeting cards, or scrapbooking materials. I little paint and a little Mod Podge make it beautiful, too!

First, sand and clean your organizer well. Otherwise the dust inside those little spaces will fly when you start spray painting!

Spray a couple of light coats all over, being sure to get in all the crevices. Follow manufacturer's directions for drying and re-coating times. I used Krylon Classic Gray in Gloss.

Once the paint is dry, decide where you want to add embellishments and cut them to size. I decided to use paper on the front of the drawers.

Use a brush to apply a light coat of Mod Podge to the front of the drawer.

Immediately lay the paper on top of the wet Mod Podge, starting in the center and working out to the edges. If you accidentally put the paper in the wrong place, you can quickly pull it up and re-position it. Using your fingers or a credit card, smooth out all the air bubbles, from the center to the edges.

Allow the Mod Podge and paper to dry. You may need to use a heavy book to weigh down the paper as it dries. If so, be sure to slide a piece of plastic wrap or wax paper between your project and your weight so they don't stick together. After drying, apply another coat of Mod Podge on top of the paper to seal it. Again, allow to dry.

I decided to line the inside of the drawers with fun contrasting paper. I chose not to glue it down, so it can be changed out as I wish.

Fill your fun new organizer with supplies. I use mine for my Etsy shop printmaking supplies. Somehow I feel more productive and creative when I have a cute place to store things!

I still need ideas for the one I have. I sew and do beading, but don't seem to have a purpose for this nice wood container that I don't want to give up!.
