Sheet Music Table Makeover

Growing up as the daughter of a piano teacher, I have played the piano my entire life and that is no doubt a large part of why I so love the look of sheet music.
When I found these somewhat dull side tables at an estate sale for next to nothing, I knew immediately what I wanted to do with them.
The top of one was in bad shape. I could have filled the pitting, or removed the veneer, but there was no need to do that since I would be covering and distressing them later anyway.
I wanted to use old sheet music but I decided the best way to get the right look on tables this size, was to blow the music up to an 18" x 24" engineering print. That meant I had to make the crisp white paper look old instead.
Once the paper looked like an authentic antique, I used Mod Podge to apply it to the table top. The slightly uneven and creased finish that often comes with using Mod Podge, adds to the antiqued effect.
To learn how to make new paper look authentically old, be sure to read the full post at The Refurbished Home.

I want to do this to an old piano bench. How do you keep the paper from sticking to the table as they dry? Paper usually sticks to the surface of whatever it dries on so did you lay in on the tables or on wax paper, or...?
