DIY Door Makeover

I am giving new life to the white six panel doors throughout my home, designing each one to compliment the colors and certain components of the room. I am experimenting with elements to use in the transformation but I am trying to keep the cost minimal. Thus far, the most expensive cost is the quart of paint needed to change the overall color of the door! I have been working with self-adhesive tiles and while I don't think I would ever choose this for a kitchen or bathroom, I love the look on my previously boring white doors. My latest project was the door to my main floor powder room ...
I bought small square dowels from my local big box store and painted them the same color as bathroom cabinet.
I found these self adhesive metallic tiles on-line. I needed 4X4 tiles to fit inside the panels on the door. I generally don't like to buy something I can't see and touch as the quality and colors can be deceptive on-line but I was satisfied with these for my intended use. Since I have brushed nickel hardware in the powder room I also bought more in different colors for my next "door adventure!"
I used the dowels to make a frame and glued them to the tiles.
I gave the door a new color; Behr Wheat Bread, to compliment the floor and countertop and secured the framed tile to the door panel with Loctite adhesive.
I was just going to do the upper panels but I decided to do all 6.
It's hard to get a good picture but this is the final product. I love it! At least for the next year ;o)
