Your life is insane — am I right?
You’re looking at the upcoming summer wondering how to keep your house clean with extra bodies home all day. I think you need to be more organized, I want more peace in my home. I want it all. But, at the same time life just keeps getting crazier. Kids schedules are crazy, kids are constantly needing you? how on earth can you change it?
Make a cleaning schedule!

I like to give each day during the week a "room" -- Monday is kitchen, Tuesday bathrooms, Wednesdays is bedrooms, Thursdays is playroom/office, and Friday is living/laundry rooms. Then, I use an app called TickTick to help me schedule in the jobs I need to do in each area of the house!
Here you can see how I schedule some things weekly, some things are bi-weekly, or even every 6 weeks, depending on how often it needs to be done. Then, that app just reminds me to do things like flipping the couch cushions or turning our mattress. It does all the work for me, so my brain doesn't have to hold all that stuff.
I also have a paper schedule that holds it all for my family who are more paper minded. Here is our ACTUAL schedule! You can read more in depth about how I do it on my blog.
And there it is on my phone, telling me what I need to get done for the day. No stress, because I just follow what my phone says, and when it's done it's all the couch and bon bons for me. :) In reality -- with about a half an hour on most days (probably more when I sweep and mop my floor) I can keep my house fairly clean and no stress!

The different room a day idea is super smart. I definitely need to do this with my roommates!

@Hannah V -- yes, and that concept really helped when I moved to a new house and had to figure out a new plan. :)
  • I so need this! I tend to walk around in circles feeling overwhelmed ;) Thanks for sharing.
