A Thift Store Dresser Gets a Beach Chic Makeover

I found this great dresser at a thrift store. One of the drawers was slightly broken and the top had a burned hole in it. However, I loved the lines and brought it home.
My first job was to tackle the top. I sanded it way back and tried to sand out the burn hole. Originally, I was going to paint the top but after seeing the wonderful grain, I decided to stain it instead.
I used wood filler, spackle and mixed in the wood dust from the sander bag to fill the hole. I then used Varathane stain to give the top a bleached look.
Here is the top now. I looks more like a knot in the wood and less like a burn spot! It blends in and I'm happy with it. I prefer to have the gorgeous grain showing than paint it all just because of a small spot - besides, it is really old and should add charm :)
The dresser's body was painted in a custom mix of creamy white.
The original hardware is very attractive.
The drawers are lined and now in perfect working order.
The piece is full of fantastic detail.
