Let me first say, YES. $2000 is a lot of money. And more than many are willing and wanting to spend on a bathroom overhaul. On the flip side, chances are, if you've done ANY research into doing a bathroom renovation, you know that $2000 is actually a pretty small budget to have in order to redo an entire space.
So, you wanna see what we did with our 100% DIY bath and our 2k budget?

Here's what we started with. A pretty standard, builder-grade 1990's vintage bath. We had a timeline of 6 weeks to complete this project.

It's been like a marathon. And like Forrest Gump, it feels like we've been running for 3 years, 2 months, 14 days and 16 hours.

Oh look, there we are enjoying a nice glass of wine on date night...while framing out the new wall for the pocket door. That's romance, folks.

Luckily, my beloved and I never argue during these projects, since we're so in love and happy, happy, joy, joy pretty much ALL the time (insert snarky, eye rolling emoticon HERE). Couples renovations can really test a relationship...but of course, no issues here (I heart sarcasm)!

And there's the tile going in...

And it's done.

Adding a pocket door to this space was one of the best things we did. Having two swinging doors in a small, narrow space was not functional. The door we used was a salvage I bought from a local yard sale site. It cost $40. And I love how it adds a bit of vintage flair.

There were LOTS of things we did to save $$ in this room. Like a $3 magazine rack, $1 towel hooks. There is NO reason to spend $20 on a towel hook or rack, peeps. And if you stroll through a bed and bath store, that's exactly how much they cost...crazytown.

We also saved a boat load of cash by refinishing the tub/tile surround rather than replacing it! Cost $50 to brighten it up, and wasn't a hard DIY.

We used a $15 flea market vintage suitcase to make a medicine cabinet...and I designed the shower curtain using old time car advertisements.

All in all, for LESS than $2k (our detailed budget/costs are on the post), we hope you like how it all turned out. No more "Run, Forrest Run" here for a while. We'll just sit on this bench and enjoy a little couples time in the park. Hmmm...this is kinda boring.
