A Broken, Piece-of-junk Lamp Gets an Entirely New Life!

I'm not one to hoard stuff. I swear. But when it came to this busted lamp, for some reason, I broke my own rules. One of our cats knocked it off a table a few months ago. I ended up in pieces, but I knew the mechanics of the lamp itself were fine. So I tossed it into a bin and let it sit on a shelf until I figured out what to do with it.
This month, a group of fellow bloggers did a Trash to Treasure challenge and I knew it was the perfect opportunity to give my busted lamp new life! Right beside it was my collection of glass milk bottle vases. A marriage made in beachy, nautical heaven :)
Using a carbide drill tip (and following the instructions to a tee), Dan helped me drill a hole in the glass bottle. It was a little scary. Not going to lie. But it worked!
Then I disassembled the broken lamp bits and threaded them back through my bottle.
Et Voila! I wrapped the bottle in a bit of burlap, put my shade back on and it's now a little light source in our upstairs hallway :) For full details on just how we drilled through the glass and more details on how the whole lamp came together, check out our blog at www.diypassion.com - Thanks for reading!
